Located at 278 Bleecker St, New York, NY 10014, John's of Bleecker Street operates as a pizza restaurant serving New York in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as pizza takeout, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Pizza places in the United States run from a counter with two stools and a stack of boxes to a full sit-down pizzeria with a bar, and most neighborhood shops do all three things at once: dine-in, takeout and delivery. Ordering by phone is still common and often faster than an app, and many independents charge less when you call direct because there is no platform fee. Sizes are usually listed in inches (a small around 10", a large 14", an extra-large 16" or more), and a large feeds two to three adults. Slices are sold from a display case at New York-style counters and reheated to order; whole pies take 15-25 minutes at a busy shop. Most spots take cards and mobile pay, though a few older pizzerias remain cash-only, so check the door or the listing before you order.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11:30 am–10 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach John's of Bleecker Street at (212) 243-1680; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is johnsofbleecker.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in New York peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This is a cool old NY pizza shop! The hype is legit. The pizza is made in a wood fired oven and is cooked to perfection. Everyone gave it high regard. We got the Napoletana, Picante, and Garlic bread. Everything was fresh! We scraped some of the garlic off the bread but it was still delicious! Make sure your entire party is there to wait in line! Staff were extremely friendly, but kind of defeats the point of waiting in line when you get to the front and continue to wait! We ate in the dining room! Seats in the booths weren’t overly comfortable but it looked original to the restaurant! You can also order take out if that’s more your style or you’re worried about comfort!

Great NYC slice thin crust cooked to perfection, with just the right balance of sauce and cheese. Nothing heavy, nothing overdone, just pure New York mastery. Honestly, this might be one of the best pies I’ve ever had. Stop by for some of New York’s finest pizza! #faithfulforker

The wait will get you but I gotta say it’s worth the wait! The service is phenomenal. First off, one of the employees saw a customer in line with a disability and offer a chair rather than stand! On another note, the waiter took our luggage for us since he could tell we are traveling. The pizza is not expensive in my opinion. The taste was great, crunchy cracker thin crust, great sauce and the sausage comes from a local butcher. Highly recommend. And lastly, I’m from Chicago so I highly recommend this one Chicagoans.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ John’s of Bleecker Street is simply incredible. Every single time I take the first bite, I feel like I’m back in Italy. The crust, the sauce, the cheese, the perfect balance of flavors—everything comes together to create an unforgettable pizza. I’ve tried pizza in many places, including Italy, and I can honestly say this is one of the very best. There’s a reason John’s is considered one of New York City’s legendary pizzerias. The quality speaks for itself. The IPA beer was also excellent and paired perfectly with the pizza, making the entire meal even more enjoyable. This is not just another pizza place—it’s a true New York institution and, in my opinion, one of the benchmarks for what New York pizza should be. If you’re visiting NYC and want to experience one of the city’s most iconic and delicious pizzas, John’s of Bleecker Street is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended!

We stopped in with a party of 10. We were greeted outside in line and were told we would be taken care of in 10-15 mins and we were. A pleasant surprise considering the line down the sidewalk. Pizza was great, service was great. Would recommend. My personal favorite was the piccante. Will be back on my next NYC trip. Bonus for any fans of Friends…the apartment building from the show is just 3 blocks away. Cool neighborhood to walk around.
